Add ability to use camera flashlight as a lightsource when filming video in dark environments.

Is the light even made for this? I remember in other phones they were breaking since they were initially made to be running only a short amount of time. Using the light as lamp could kill it very fast. Does anybody know if this is an issue here?
Well after a couple of minutes the back of the phone (where the flash LED is) gets quite warm. Nothing where I would say critical but this is indeed a good hint. I personally would like to use it for some camera based measurements/metrology. There I only need the the LED on continuous for maybe 30s...

Nicr idea, like it worked with N9. Have you tried to use Flashlight app to turn on the led and then recording the video?

version --dupin the terminal to install missing/not updated packages. :)Or you just don't see the option in the camera app? You have to open camera, pull down the options menu and activate the video mode, then in video mode again pull down the options menu and right next to the option to switch between picture/video mode there is the option to manually turn on the flashlight.
