Support for Hebrew language? Squares when receiving Hebrew.

After installing it, I went to Terminal and entered killall maliit-server - which initially didn't help, so I rebooted the phone. The Hebrew keyboard and language now shows and I can see characters not boxes - so I'd say there is support for you.(I don't speak or write in Hebrew, I'm just trying to help you).

1st) it did not, but Shturman fixed it in new version (as font it self was not copied properly). 2nd) It's not for keyboard layout but to see hebrew font 3rd)I prefer to use builtin out of box solution with font on device, instead of installing new fonts(it's already there, why not use it?)

@tad, last time i did it was on one of first updates, i do not use Jolla except as candy crush so i do not really tried it after updates. I think you should ping Shturman as he uses it as everyday device afaik and he is from israel as well

So have it been fixed? Can you have now hebrew or not (is there solution?)

Thanks to this post I can now read Hebrew text on my Jolla: downloaded an app from OpenRepos (Schturman) and it works!

FreeSans (and the rest of the fonts in that family) are readable but generally ugly. Please opt to use something better (at least for Hebrew). They'll make your eyes hurt in the long run.

I just followed the instruction for the VKB installation in the above link and I also got Hebrew fonts displaying correctly in SMS.

I'm not sure that they are the best. One good point for them is that they appear in the configuration and hence require no further mucking with font-config. That said, I fail to understand why the existing font-config configuration does not configure Droid-Sans-Hebrew for sans-serif.

Other font families:

• DejaVu
• Linux Libertine (poor Hebrew glyphs, as apparent in Wikipedia)

Is there any fixing progress with this? I just stumbled on this bug as well. What exactly is the problem with Droid Sans? It can't be used with the version of fontconfig in Sailfish?

DejaVu is a good example too.
