Would it be possible to create a sailfish-style emoji theme? Not just a copy of a set from other systems but one with influences from the design language? ...a bit like the icons, that is. A central circle with corners.

Would it be possible to do it together as a community?

One idea would be to have "xmas gingerbread" emojis. Dark backgrounds with lighter details.

Creating a monochrome set of emojis seems like a good idea too.

A font-inspired emoji theme would integrate well with text.

We are talking for about 1000 -or around this number- emojis to be designed. This is a huuuuuge task.

...a task that can be divided into smaller pieces, though. I wouldn't ask for the impossible.

This look pretty well for me:

This font covers most, but not all emojis Apple or Google have created. From my point of view, this is only an annoying plague. I need the font to guess better what others try to tell me.

The problem is there is no soltion for having native emojis in linux. Only via stupid hacks.

You're talking about colored emojis, right? Emojis can be b/w and work well in GNU/Linux environments then.

colored of course. common font glyphs for emojis are... i think its not the solution users expect :)

@coderus better something than nothing... even as temporary solution. ☺

then you can just install font to solve it :)

@coderus: The OP isn't about installing just any font to get full emojii support (which would be a duplicate because we know how to do this). It's specifically about creating a 'sailfish-themed' set of emojis. So installing the known fonts doesn't solve it.
