Email refuses to reinstall

My email client wasn't working properly (failed to synchronize constantly, displayed emails incorrectly etc.) so I deciced to uninstall it with the intention to reinstall it right afterward. However, after I uninstalled the client I've been unable to reinstall from the Jolla store. Each time the application does download, but an error occurs during installation. I've tried this multiple times and I can't think of anything else to do anymore than a factory reset. An interesting fact is that I keep receiving email notification even though I do not have the client installed.

Acknowledging the fact that a factory reset is pretty major I'd like to know if there is a "softer" solution to this problem. Any ideas/suggestions? Thank you!

Do you have Developer mode installed? You could try pkcon install jolla-email and report the result.

I do have Developer mode, but it won't open, just gets stuck at the loading screen... And after loading for awhile I receive an error notification from Jolla Store stating "Problem with installing developer mode"

It seems that you are most likely suffering from the ssu release=latest problem

If you have signed up for the early access releases, you should have an OS update available now. And installing that should fix the situation, as the update process sets the release version correctly.

If OS update does not help and you don't have terminal access to the device, you can try fixing the release with recovery mode following the instructions in my answer and comments here

I'll try the update. I haven't signed up for early release access, so when will this update be available for me/the public?

It will be available to public next week, if no major issues are found within the early access updaters

Any new info on how long till the release of the update? There are several other minor issues with my Jolla I'm hoping the new update will solve...

There is this one issue which we are investigating and trying to fix, so the release date is not clear yet. But if we are not able to find solution soon, we will do the release and issue a hotfix later when find the solution.
