Screen timeout [duplicate]

Sometimes while using browser and reading say a news article, the screen times out and upon double tap it takes me back to the start screen and I have to swipe down and then back to the browser. Its a little bit annoying.

An idea would be if an device is woken up within say 3 seconds it would not go back to the start screen but stay in last open application.

Or like certain android phones, they use the front camera to see if someone is looking at the device. I can imagine that would involve some patent work though ;)
