Having followed the announcements about the port for Fairphone 2 it seems: - All the main items work - A ROM will be published as soon as the rest of bugs are fixed (?) ..or as soon as also a Radio App was programmed ..or as soon as Jolla and Fairphone are sure whether the not-free parts of Sailfish OS may be integrated.

May someone make a build of the current state available for those who do not care about few bugs, and do not want to stick to Android any longer? Just for a feeling like Fedora on my PC ;) I think many people would like to try a Beta already :)

Now there are instructions and a link to a SFOS image for Fairphone 2 on the Mer Wiki: Adaptations/libhybris/Install SailfishOS for fp2. I successfully followed the instructions and am currently exploring the Sailfish + Fairphone combo.

I am also trying out the build currently and it seems stable so far. Almost everything but the android support seems to be there. This doesn't feel like an alpha build to me, more like a later beta to be honest.

It's somewhat matter of opinion what is stable enough for a beta. I'm the main porter of Sailfish to Fairphone 2 and I might be a little bit of perfectionist sometimes and also since it's the first release that's why it's an alpha.

@mal - Do you know anything about future plans for android support?

I know there is work being done to get the community support for Android also on Fairphone 2 using sfdroid which is essentially getting Android app support by running Android alongside of Sailfish at the same time in a window, this has been demonstrated on at least Nexus 5 so far, this is however a work in progress and not everything works yet. I don't know about possibility for official Android app support, that's something between Fairphone and Jolla.

I believe there will be an announcement of sorts at FOSDEM today in the Fairphone talk.

That aside, the main issue afaik is packaging the image up into something easy to install, as it currently is a little bit involved.

I will report what happened in the talk later on today

Aside from that, not too much to report. I was lucky enough to play around with a sailfishos fairphone, and it seems like it works quite well but as always the devil is in the details.

Not sure on the release timeline, but i should imagine you wont have much longer to wait
