[idea] Run IOS apps on jolla [off-topic]
Actually I am depresset that most services I see on the internet only have ios and android apps to download but nothing else! But those android apps not always work on Jolla.
What is if we could run ios apps? Is it possible? Has any company done it before?
Probably that's more complicated than running android apps, if not even impossible.
Running android apps is relatively easy: You just need a dalvik runtime environment. It works quote well on Sailfish OS. In some cases the Integration is not perfect yet, but it has been improved quite good in the last updates.
With iOS apps ot is more difficult: They run natively on the Iphone, so you would have to emulate the whole operating system. Since many parts of it are closed source, this emulation layer would have to be reverse-engineered. Maybe there are even legal restrictions thar prohibit the development of an iOS emulator.

Also if you should be able to run shitOS Apps on your Jolla, then this does not guarantee you that they will work without any issues - your problem should be solved in eliminating the issues in the already aviliable Dalvik Runtime and not in creating another runtime.
BTW what is not working in your needed Android Apps? I am sure there are workarounds for your issues here on TJC.

JSEHV ( 2016-02-06 11:59:19 +0200 )editNative apps... right. So I may hibernate myself with my grandpa aged Jolla, and wake up when the Jolla logo appears next to those Apple and Android logos.
Macilaci457 ( 2016-02-06 12:21:20 +0200 )editNative apps.. I wish more people used (and ports/developed) the apps they needed natively. Personally I don't even have alien dalvik installed.. battery life is superb! So don't think of copying others, think of having better native apps, until Apple ask jolla on how to be able to run sailfishOS apps on iOS, then Jolla can charge Apple 1 gazillion per year for license royalties.
