The phone is fair

The OS is not brilliant

I bought the Jolla Phone December 2015

I have tried to sell it (But no one has any interest)

I wonder if it's possible to change the OS to Android

That way I could get something more familiar

I need something familiar

Technically this is possible, but since we dont have flashable images for the JPhone I dont really like your chances.

It's going to be a hard sell now because the phones are still available new, and the technology in the phone (os aside) is nothing really great at this point.

Hello,

I don't think installing android will make your Jolla phone user experience any better. Here's why: The phone hardware (dual-core; ~800MB usable memory) is more than three years behind current Android phones. Jolla (the company) actually did (and is still doing) a great job optimizing SFOS for the Jolla phone - it's the only platform in existence that can demonstrate the full potential of SFOS. Even Jolla's Android support (alien-dalvik) runs fairly swift; it's unlikely that a (recent) native Android runtime will achieve the speed of alien-dalvik on the Jolla hardware.

So - what keeps you from using Jolla's Android compatibility mode with your favourite apps? What's missing for you?

If you really want a Jolla device with Android, why not get yourself a Tablet from Taobao ;)

or on talk.maemo.org ...seriously who would ever prefer android UI over SFOS UI - limited software ok but "something familiar"?

The trouble with selling it here or on TMO is that you are not going to get anything near the 'new' price. The OP says he bought it in December 2015. He did not say it was new but if it was, which is possible, he might lose out.

We all live and learn. If you do not like it, fair enough, but I agree with the above two comments: trying to sell it, even at a loss, it a much easier option. No one has successfully installed an alternative OS on a Jolla, most likely because of the lack of trying. People who buy the phone generally do it for the OS, not the hardware, so there is little incentive to try alternatives.

Well said, well said ;) little to none incentive, it is probably a waste of time to port android to a device that is on the market to have an alternative.
