It is available the new jolla Communicator 2.0: http://www.messaggiero.it/blogpost.php?id_images=10

English resume:

After several months since the first version of JollaCommunicator 1.0, and with the arrival of the new year I found some time to build the new version of JollaCommunicator 2.0. Indeed, the development of the previous version 1.0, made with Gambas, was finally dropped in favor of rewriting the software environment in java so as to make it available for any operating system. As a result, this new version is available for Ubuntu Linux (Debian and derivatives) and for Microsoft Windows; I hope that users will find useful the Microsoft version.

Changelog version 2.0:

  • Cross-platform Linux / Windows
  • Integration with Jolla Notes: can read / edit / add notes.
  • New features to save locally on your PC photos and videos made with the camera of Jolla.
  • Export messages (sms) on file in CSV format (so you can import to spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel, Write Libre Office and other)

I have also several new ideas that I want to develop for the upcoming new releases of the software.

Terms and conditions: The software is to be considered in beta and the installation and use is free. Be careful, as this software allows the cancellation of received SMS messages, each one is personally responsible for any loss or damage, however caused the message from the use of the following software provided completely free of charge.

Thanks! However, after I've configured the connection and press Connect, a wait cursor appears but nothing more happens.

Also, why include the entire jre in the .deb? Security-wise I'd prefer using the distro's jre, as it gets security updates.

Messaggiero.. Congrats!! The best tool I found here. You think that in a future update there can be added some features like the possibility to delete files in Jolla or to configure contacts details?

I have zero interest in finding out what a project is about since the author didn't bother to write its description in English.

@Okw, https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A//www.messaggiero.it/blogpost.php%3Fid_images%3D10 ;)

The translation is actually surprisingly good and the tool itself doesn't look half bad, based on the description on that page. I have yet to try it. I wonder if the tool can speak English 'coz I for sure can't speak Italian.

@pichlo, it's not that I couldn't use translate. It's simply about the authors general ignorance towards an international community.

I can google translate any webpage I happen to go to. However, that's not what I'm willing to do. You can call me shallow and nit-picky, but this is something I've learned myself the hard way. If something's written in a foreign language, most people will just skip it. I'm neither a native English speaker myself. I've realized that if one wants to share something with an international community it's mandatory to do it in an international language, i.e. English. No offence. These are just facts.

This looks great, but I still can't connect from my Windows 8.1 machine, a wait cursor appears but nothing more happens. I have no problem connecting Putty with the same config.

Maybe we could get a i386 package (32 bit) for Linux, not only 64 bit?

You can now download the jollaCommunicator in "executable jar file" format.

From the link: http://www.messaggiero.it/blogpost.php?id_images=10

This way you can run on any operating system including Apple OSX.

I did some testing on Windows 7 and Windows 10 and it works. Windows 8 unfortunately I could not do the tests. I only use Linux and do not know if windows 8 has special needs. Have you tried to run the jollacommunicator.exe as an administrator? (Right-click to "Run as administrator") I'm sorry

I don't think windows 8 has special needs, others then Win 7/10, and I did try running the jollacommunicator.exe as an administrator, even though it won't start without administrator privileges. Please, let me know how I can help debug. The app runs fine on my Linux machines, but it would be great to have it work on Windows to.
