[feature-request] Add attachment to message (MMS)

Currently the only way to create MMS messages is via the Share menu in the gallery and people apps (possibly more places), which creates a new message with one attachment (picture, contact card etc) in it. Sometimes it is desirable to create messages which contains more than one attachment, but even if you only want to send one picture it would feel natural to be able to add it from the messages app.

I agree with you. It would be nice to add attachment from message app.

I'd love to hear why adding an attachment via Messages is not in Jolla's plans to implement. If texting with someone, I decided to send them a picture, contact card, etc, I must swipe up to the app drawer, scroll for gallery, tap to open it, browse to the picture, select it, select share, tap mms, search for the person I'm chatting with, and tap send. That is 9 steps. Implementing attachments in Messages allows me to tap attachment (a button in the text box in messages), browse for the file, select it to add it to the message, and tap send. That's 4 steps and is the standard across mobile platforms except Sailfish. Please consider the feature. Thank you.

I created a similar thread though mistakenly was requesting it as a keyboard feature rather than the messaging app feature itself (granted some keyboards have other functionality built in like attaching gifs etc) I am disappointed that this has not been talked about more often much less that the Sailfish developers have not addressed this or bothered to add such basic functionality that has been around for the longest time in smartphone messaging (going back to early part of this decade, Windows phone, Android etc) I will turn on my Nokia N9 (Meego) to see if it had this functionality (cannot recall) This is basic to a smartphone OS interface (calls, browsing, texting) and is not some app-specific request.

@us231us: I think the problem is that MMS is simply not a very popular way of sending pictures anymore, and right now that's the only officially supported protocol that can send pictures through the Messages app, so the chances of anyone being bothered by this enough to complain about it are pretty low, and the chances of Jolla making the way you send an MMS less convoluted are even slimmer. If something like WhatsApp were integrated into the Messages app, the complaints would probably come flooding in.
