Hi, something strange occured yesterday. I can't remember fiddling with the phone. But since the evening any kind of video can not be played with the phone anymore. No videos made by the built in cam, no videos opened with LLs vPlayer, no Galery Videos within the galery no webms...nothing. And when I open the cam the app crashes, when I try to play a video with the LLs vPlayer it crashes..when I open a webm video in Sailimgur app the app crashes...it is really really strange, also the phone seems to be hanging a lot. I restarted now 7 times including taking out the battery but it still happens.

I guess it is some codec problem but I dont know which.

Does anybody have an Idea if I can compare my current codecs installed with a clean phone? can somebody post what he/she has so I can compare? Does anybody know the commands for checking and eventually uninstalling?

try to do this...backup your videos on your pc then delete the video folder (the one named camera) and open camera app to let it create the folder again and see if this solve the issue... for the codecs generally gstreamer and ultimate codec are the way to go (with dependencies obviously)

thanks for the tip but I didn't help the folder was created but the cam app keeps crashing like all other video players. I just found out that I can play videos in the browser even local files... So the video players must use sth else. unfortunately warehouse is totally confusing when you want to uninstall an app so I have to find out first which repository the codes are in before I can uninstall then. Getting the complete list doesn't work since it takes forever to be loaded.

I think I found the problem: I deleted /uninstalled gstreamer 1.0 and the gstreamer bad extra 1.45 and the mentioned dependencies restarted the phone and it works again as before.

Can somebody tell which codecs (exact name in Openrepos) should be used? I find quite many similar ones by name and simply installing them has showed me that this is not always a good idea.

I will then also close the thread.

codecs are gstreamer bad, gstreamer ugly and ultimate codec pack...there are some other things but they get installed automatically with various dependencies...(you have to enable sailfish libs for these to work :) )
