CuteSpot fails to open

Hello you all,

first of all and unfortunately, I am not a developer but a normal user who, however, is willing to find out how her phone works.

My problem is that the App does not open. It reacts, when starting it first, but then gets lost in the loading process. This phenomena appeared the first time when I did connect the CuteSpot with my SD-Card. I did yet try some normal-user-problem-solving by reinstalling the app. I did reset my whole device two times. At first CuteSpot worked. I did not connect my SD-Card because I thought that this would be the problem. However after closing the app, the same problem occurred again. I would really prefer to use CuteSpot and not to download the AndroidSpotifyApp. But at the moment I have no more clue.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Run the app from console: harbour-cutespot --debug and send me the output please.

Dear lukedirtwalker,

sorry for my late answer! I just did run the app from console, via which channel should I send you the output? Directly here as a comment or somewhere else?

Best regards, Tusch

@tusch put it on pastebin and add a link here, or make a github issue.

I've had a problem with CuteSpot for a while. The process is left running even if you close the app. If this happens the the app won't start again. The hanging process also seems to have quite high cpu-usage.

You can check if this is your problem with the Lighthouse-app from the store. If you can see CuteSpot on the process list even some time after closing the app there's something wrong.

Another indication of this problem is that music player controls stay on lock screen even if you've closed CuteSpot.

I haven't gotten around making a bug report about this yet.

Edit: You can also kill the app using Lighthouse. After that it's possible to start the app again.

Dear hetas,

first, thank you for your advice. I installed lighthouse an ran some "tests". I did start CuteSpot, it loaded for a few seconds and then a blank page appeared. This is the usual visual appearance of my CuteSpot-problem. Than I checked the processes in lighthouse. CuteSpot did not appear there as a running process. Not when still opened, although not properly loaded or when I actively closed the App (which means the blank page of the App).

Thus, what I would now conclude ist that the processes of CuteSpot can not be activated =? But why? Maybe there is another idea bringing getting to the core of this problem?

Thanks and bye

Try deleting all local CuteSpot data. Delete folder /home/nemo/.local/share/harbour-cutespot.

If you have developer mode enabled you can do this from the command line using Terminal. Or you can use file manager from the store like File browser or Cargo dock.

Remember, you can cause serious problems in your system if you delete wrong files.

You could also try asking help from Openrepos comment section for CuteSpot, https://openrepos.net/content/lukedirtwalker/cutespot.
