@AA-0001 - Already doable I believe via mcetool in terminal. I think this will also kick the arse out of your battery!
Example: mcetool --set-blank-from-lpm-on-timeout=20
- the '20' represents time in secs and how long the LPM screen stays on for once activated. I haven't played much, but changing the original setting of 10 secs to 20 secs and then counting from LPM activating tells me, this is one way round your request, not so much an answer, but somewhere to start. (to return the settings, type mcetool --set-blank-from-lpm-on-timeout=5
) - where 5
is the original setting.
If you don't have mectool installed, you can grab it by typing this into terminal; pkcon install mce-tools
Once installed, type in; mcetool --long-help
- self explanatory and very useful.
Then you can type just type in mcetool
and it will spit out a run down of current settings.
So, I have calculated 8 hours as 28800 secs, so I've entered; mcetool --set-blank-from-lpm-on-timeout=28800
- that should now leave my screen showing the time/day/date for the next 8 hours if uninterrupted. I think there should be a way to dim as well, as I think you will find the current setting to bright for night use and of course, if we adjust it right down, you won't see it in daylight when you 'peek'.
Also, to make this work, I've realised there is another setting that needs to be changed with mcetool, this setting actually overrides the 'display-off' setting, allowing lpm to stay active. The setting is; mcetool --set-display-off-override=use-lpm
. (to change it back, type mcetool --set-display-off-override=disabled
)
After each change is made with mcetool, refresh lipstick so the changes take (I found that settings weren't taking until I refreshed lipstick).
Be very careful with the settings you change, no one wants a brick for a phone! :)
EDIT: I've been nosing around in lipstick-jolla-home-qt5 and found a folder called layers, tinkered with the colour settings to get red, which is less visible to the eye at night. But it screws around with how the time is displayed in lockscreen, but here's how it looks;
This image show rgba red at 0.5, possibly too bright as a night clock, changing to 0.3 seems better. I tried 0.1, but you cannot see the time, in fact the backlight alone outshines the barely visible, red time.
In order; 0.1, 0.3 & 0.5 (grabscreen command used via ssh)
Thank you, that's almost as good as the N9. I hope it doesn't consume to much energy. Just in case, it there a way to reset the remaining time to default ?
