While powering the tablet the wifi often after a few minutes just looses connection and refuses to reconnect. Turning it off is working but turning it back on just does nothing. A reboot does not fix it. No wifi connection. Wifi is turned on after a reboot but it does not find anything while searching.

Any tips ?

Update: Now it even dropped without charging and by only playing back some video. Error message I see with dmesg is

CFG80211-ERROR wl_is_linkdown: Link down Reason: WLC_E_LINK

Trying to reconnect gives me

CFG80211-ERROR wl_scan_timeout: timer expired

It seems to me that it is some kind of driver issue.

Update2: Was able to get wifi going again by devel-su and entering ifconfig wlan0 down && ifconfig wlan0 up. Though this does not work everytime. Still think this is a driver bug in the kernel.

Update3: The bug seems to be reproducable everytime when streaming long media streams with gstreamer (e.g. LLs VideoPlayer or a Youtube video on Webcat)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open LLs video player
  2. Open https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG_lvirWXTg Youtube video stream
  3. Hit play

Result: Randomly the stream aborts loading as wifi drops dead after some minutes of watching.

Update4: The workaround for this bug (maybe its a hardware issue and not software bug) currently that I found working well for me.

  1. Don't charge with 2A charger (or at least not the one I have here that works with several other devices but reproducably causes issues with the wifi [Its a HP/Palm one originally for the HP Touchpad])
  2. Don't use the tablet during charging. (just let it charge with display off somewhere)

Update 5: Not only wifi is affected also Bluetooth (adapted title to reflect that)

Are you charging your Jolla Tablet with a 2A charger? I heard that such Wifi issues could happen because the Wifi chip or the mainboard is getting too hot.

I don't own a 2A charger yet and I am charging my Tablet slowly with the Jolla phone charger and never experienced such Wifi issues.

I hope that this is not a general hardware issue.

Yes charging with 2A charger. 1A charger is not able to charge the tablet if it falls under 10% and the screen stays on and I basically want to use the tablet any longer as the battery usage is higher then the charge so the tablet will slowly run out of power then.

Got the problem again. This time around charging via the laptop usb out that isn't supplying 2A. So there is some general issue with playing back videos and plugging in to power the Wifi just drops (disconnects from the AP) and can't reconnect without a restart. Or video playback in general (or constant wifi data send/receive) which causes the Wifi to drop. And no the device isn't running hot.

Could you pls write down step by step how to reproduce and add a link to a video for testing?:)
