I have two Jolla Phones, one with Sailfish OS 1.0 without Android support, another one with Sailfish OS 2.0 with Android support. On the older one, I find the user experience of Jolla Store pretty bad because of the following:

  1. Jolla Store lists Sailfish OS applications which can be installed, but are showing only pure white screen screen after launched. These apps runs just fine on the later version of Sailfish OS, but should not be visible in the store for the older version, being unsupported on the device.
  2. Jolla Store lists Android applications even when Android support is not installed. While I have no intention to install it, my user experience would be much better if those were visible only after the Android Support is in place.
  3. Jolla Store lists marketplaces which can be installed only after Android support is in place. Category "Marketplaces" would be an excellent place to show the Android Support itself, showing all the Android app stores only after Android support is installed.

As a side note, I've found Sailfish OS 1.0 w/o Android support surprisingly great especially for its battery life. In normal use I currently charge that phone only 2-3 times a week, using it for chatting (xmpp), emails (two accounts), browsing, calling and some other apps. The display is its main power sucker. The other Jolla requires daily charging with much less time display on. That one does seem to be syncing more data, probably due to some Android apps there.

Regarding your sidenote. I have 2.0 installed no android and with light use i can get 4 days out of it. Android is your problem.

Thanks for confirming. Are the Android apps visible in store on that version too w/o Android Support?

It doesn't matter if you have installed Android support or not, you always see Android apps in store.

Yes they are visible. I think we have a bug report on this somewhere. Or it has been discussed in another topic.

Well, having those Android apps visible isn't the main problem... It's having apps there you can install but won't run, so you install, try, uninstall, install another one, try, uninstall... Should have only apps that work

While submitting an app or an update, the developer can choose which Sailfish versions his/her app supports, but in reality most of the devs don't take their time to check compability with each and every Sailfish version.

I don't think this is someting Jolla should spend their limited time on, after all the newer versions are available for every user.

The 2. and 3. things in your list deserve their own questions, as they are not related to the old Sailfish versions.

An automated testing way would be nice. Though as me a developer after a new SDK is out and I use it I can only test against that SailfishOS version and not older versions.

I guess I'll accept this answer. It's only fair that Jolla hopes all sailors to use the latest version, and if there is a filtering made so that the devs need to add that info into the app, users can always report the problems via store comments to them. Maybe not the best way, but at least the filtering exists then. You're also right that parts 2. and 3. in my question are mostly additional info on the user experience and should be handled separately. Thanks for your answer @jollailija
