Open the web browser, minimise it, then open something that has web links, e.g. email or twitter client

Tap a link in said client

Browser is switched-to and displays the page you asked for

Swipe the browser away

The email/twitter client is still first (top-left) in the multitasking view, despite the browser being the most recent app.

I assume this is wrong?

I was just about to create the same issue. I had just launched the browser from my mail and was to check something back in the mail app. When I were to return to the browser it was still outside (position 9+) the multitasking view. It was reordered to the correct place when I launched it from the launcher.

As I see it an application is only reordered to the first position when launched or when activated from the multitasking view. When activated via link this doesn't happen.

Not only related - a duplicate even.

Oh yes, thanks. I did search, but didn't find that issue as both the title and description aren't terribly helpful!

In my view it is corect to have the last app that user started at the tiop-left corner in Home screen. The browser can be seen in this case just as a display engine showing a link from the main app (where users ficus was last).

But if the browser is started as a result of the link (i.e. wasn't open before) then it is in the top-left. Surely one of these behaviours is wrong/inconsistent?

And my muscle memory of the gesture to "swap back to last app" is "swipe, tap second app" (I don't close the browser as it's tabbed) but this bug makes that gesture not work some of the time.

I still think it is not a bug; top-left shows the app last started or switched to by the user (except when browser is already running in which case the main app stays as the last). If it bothers you, ofc you can ask for this behaviour to be changed, but could you call it a feature-request or enhancement rather than a bug?

"switched to by the user" - I regard launching the web-browser by clicking a link as just that, switch to that app.

I think the order of the apps on the homescreen should reflect the order the applications were active.
