Show calendar entries in Events view [released]
On N9 I had a very useful app to show my calendar event entries on the Events home screen. Especially useful for birthdays, appointments, etc. It would be nice to have the same functionality built in into SailfishOS and have the calendar entries and alarms appear in Jolla Events screen.
EDIT(14/09/15): This has been improved upon in Early Access Release 1.1.9.28
New Calendar widget displays your upcoming events
good idea - and they should reaccur if you accidently swipe them away
hewi ( 2013-12-25 20:31:32 +0200 )edit@hewi On N9 they were persistent.
Orologiaio ( 2013-12-25 21:34:45 +0200 )editthere was an extra notifications provider for N9
ortylp ( 2013-12-26 01:11:05 +0200 )editI second this, as I used the "Organiser Feed" app on my N9 (tried the "Calendar Feed" app earlier on, but prefered the "Organiser Feed" app).
phle ( 2013-12-26 15:19:23 +0200 )editLower part of the Events screen (the swipe up one) would be a suitable place: not in the way, no major worries about privacy, but still easily accessible.
@otto it is not a duplicate because "lock screen" is not "events view" these are two different screens
ortylp ( 2013-12-27 15:23:36 +0200 )editVery good idea, and really miss this from my N9 where this was beautifully implemented.
foss4ever ( 2013-12-29 05:10:44 +0200 )editwould be great to have reminder in both the event view and the unlock view! @phle: disagree. reminders should be located at the very top as they are pure informational most of the time and and interaction is less likely than with other "events" i want to reach one-handed...
mgbler ( 2013-12-30 03:08:45 +0200 )edit@mgbler - You do have a point.
The reason why I suggested the lower part was that, on my N9, for the "Organiser Feed" app, the user could choose a very large amount of events to be shown, which could result in a list that needed scrolling (and also pushed the N9 Feed further down) - the corresponding feed(s) on Jolla needs clicks to be reached.
Events that need interaction are presently placed at the very top (and are visible, as icons, on Lock screen).
I'll revise my suggestion:
phle ( 2013-12-30 09:54:20 +0200 )editEvents screen:
- the present notifications field (mail, messages, etc.)
- "Upcoming Events": upcoming calendar events, (alarms?,) ToDo's (which I miss from the N9). The next five / up to the next seven days (whichever is reached first) are shown. Click "more" (or similar) / longpress "Upcoming Events" to see up to (one or two months ahead / the next, say, 25 (whichever is reached first)). - below these: today's "Share what's on your mind", w/ Twitter/Facebook/... feeds
Lock screen:
- present notifications (icons for mail, messages, etc.)
- icon showing that there's one or more Upcoming Event/s within the next week
(maybe with a switch in Settings, whether the user wants expanded Lock screen info)
@phle this would be perfect :)
mgbler ( 2013-12-30 13:29:02 +0200 )editYes yes yes please! Calendar is my most used app, without my electronic brain I'm basically helpless. Add these and as many more features as possible as quickly as possible into the native app asap please!
Bimberle ( 2014-01-05 14:37:03 +0200 )editYes! And more we need in Events. For N9 users (with amazing Event screen) current state of Jolla Event feed screen is way back to past century.
Kaacz ( 2014-01-09 12:25:28 +0200 )editgood idea! and if some of calendar was showed on events screen, would be nice

ymb ( 2014-02-06 16:32:27 +0200 )editI'm not sure you will get exactly the same use as on N9 with calendar event on the Events home screen. This is not sufficient.
On N9 the Notification page is one of the 4 pages you can swap between (current app, running tasks, notifications, app launcher). So even if you don't thing about your notifications, you will likely display the notification page on the N9 with standard swipes.
On Jolla you have to perform a specific gesture (swipe up) to display the Notification page. It is essential from my point of view to have a remember on the lock screen not to avoid to look at Notification page. Exactly in the same way as for sms.
