I know this is odd, but I have searched and not found any tip on this. I had installed Web Pirate browser and liked it but then resources were used up so I uninstalled it but since then any url needs to be copied instead of actually opening automatically.

Any tips on this?

EDIT: a 'works for me' post is below, however it would be good to know what Web Pirate edited so that it does not require reinstalling.

I had the same. I reinstalled WebPirate and unchecked the "make webpirate default browser" checkbox in its settings. That did the trick for me and the stock browser is default again. I uninstalled WebPirate afterwards and the defaul stays on the stock browser.

That worked...and odd at the same time. This is acceptable as it works for me.

Though extra points if we can find the file that is modified by web pirate :)

@Dax touché though technically that is the file that does the modifying ;)

Yes, if I remember correctly I create two files:

1) org.harbour.webpirate.service in .local/share/dbus-1/services

2) open-url-webpirate.desktop in .local/share/applications

And I set the mimetype pointing to "open-url-webpirate.desktop" file by calling xdg-mime, when it's disabled it calls the original "open-url.desktop"

I don't change system files.

You could probably use Mimer from OpenRepos, if you don't prefer to manually edit your...

I tried this path but it listed the default browser. Seems the web pirate being 'default' in its settings holds even if removed.
