check free space and btrfs balancer. maybe you need to empty some and run balancer before update

after i managed to free about 3% (from 61 to 58%) it did the trick. i copied all the jolla team fotos and videos to the sdcard also copied all mail-attachment. there was a folder somewhere on the phone with billions ot thumbnails and ghots copies of pictures oven ones which were deleted from me but still there. i can't find it anymore, where is that folder? can i delete the content? also clean cache - which folders could be deleted without causing trouble and free space? with 3% freedmy jolla runs better and smoother i want to keep that

WHY THIS QUESTION IS OUTDATED? If he is an inexperienced user how he can guess that it is not related to concrete update but general case? :P

@Dragomir could you inform please how is your situation?

Yes, I would also like to know mr. raketti why is it "not relevant"? I have the same (or similar?) problem and I would really like to know how to fix it so not relevant my ass. Can someone remove this status? In my case I downloaded the updated and start installing it and phone restarted (I guess after optimizing part not sure I wasn't paying attention to progress bar?). So I went back and started update again but I cannot update further - the installation is stuck and progress bar with Sailfish update won't move. I tried to run the btrfs balancer (even thought I had enough space 53%) but it didn't help. So what do I do now? Do I need to do the factory reset?

I experienced the similar. Freeing some space (3,5 GB fre) and launching the optimization step few times did the trick.

I had the same problem. I had according to settings>about product 3.4gb free. In terminal as root I did the following command: btrfs-balancer allocation It gave 100% output. I copied al the videos from the device to a external harddisk and run the command again it then said 89%.

Meanwhile Settings>about product said there was 4.1gb free.

2 problems with this procedure. Not to be done by end users. Optimising doesn't show a log so a end user don't no what the problem is.

And wtf does this update need 4gb of free space according to settings if it's only 330mb of size?

I've 9.4GB free and its still stuck in the optimization, the note in the updater says it needs 1.5GB free. There is no error logs or something which can be used to figure out what might be going wrong with optimization

I had the same problem, and solved it by updating all the apps pending. Check the ones like Warehouse and Aptoide Appstore, they don't necessarily notify you of apps in need of an update. Jolla Store sends a notification, I think.
