5y later and with another android layer (8.1 instead 4.4) we are as far away from a native SIP client as 5 years earlier So having at least the possibilty to use the Mobile as SIP client at home would be nice. But even with new android this app does not work. It just does not 'see' the Fritz Box in home WLAN (even when entering IP manually).

Edit (2014-02-04):

  • From the discussion it emerged: Best way is to wait until Sailfish has got a proper SIP client and then to configure this as Fritz!Box client. (There are instructions around on the internet. Search for example for "SIPDroid Fritz!Box" [with or without exclamation mark].)
  • Tag "poll" removed, question closed.

Original question:

I wonder, how many people using Jolla are also using a Fritz!Box as internet router with integrated telephony support. AVM provides Fritz!App Fon for Android -- which is not working on Jolla (most probably due to access restrictions). However, if there are sufficient users, AVM might start working on a port to Jolla ....?

So: Whoever is interested in and would use such a port, please upvote this question. Thank you.

Edit 2014-01-14: So far just 7 up-votes, so interest is rather low, too low for any commercial company to base product decisions on. If the score does not change heavily within the next days, I rather will delete this question than showing that there indeed is so little interest.

SIP support would be enough for me too

I've two Fritz!boxes so count me in but decent SIP support from Jolla first needs to happen.

I'm interested. My old phone E52(Nokia) was sometimes connected to Fritz!Box as a sip-phone

I'd rather like to see universal SIP support, as it was asked in this question: https://together.jolla.com/question/415/sip-voip-native-integration/ This would work with a Fritz!Box as well as with any other sip-provider.

@jcoder: Correct me if I am wrong: Fritz!App Fon is not a SIP client. I think it is rather comparable to DECT over WiFi. Fritz!App Fon allows you to use any phone connection of the Fritz!Box, including landlines. In addition, it gives you access to the Fritz!Box phone book.

Hello @peterleinchen with the answer of @James your request is dead! Es tut mir Leid dies zu sagen aber das resultiert aus der Antwort von Jolla. Ich hätte mir wenigstens einen SIP client gewünscht.
