I noticed that one of the features added to the latest OS update is that Android apps will now be able to send (and even read?) SMS using the SIM. I understand this is necessary as some banking apps use the SIM to authenticate the mobile phone number for mobile banking purposes.

One of the things I hate about Android is that many apps promote themselves by sending SMS to all your contacts.

So I am curious how it has been implemented in Sailfish OS - is the user alerted when an Android app sends (or wants to sends) an SMS or access the SIM?

It was mistakenly writen, that android does support sending sms. So the actual release does not have the ability to send sms from android layer. maybe in one of the next releases. You can read the discussion in other questions related to this topic.

Can you point me to the discussions on this - I couldn't find any that mentioned this feature is not supported or has been delayed?
