Since update to 2.0.1.11 the Jolla phone doesn't show up when connected to any of my Windows PC-s on USB. I read in the disclaimer that Win10 can have problems, but the same issue appears on Win 7 Enterprise as well. Checked Device Manager and Storage places: no sign of Jolla. Any ideas?

for me it always take 3 to 5 tries until it is detected. did you try more often? also i read somewhere that it would help to change the settings so that the jolla wont ask what to do (pc connection / carching only) instead just use pc connection automatically.

I have the option for pc-connection / charging on and it takes me usually around 3 tries to connect to Windows 7 Professional (used to work on 1st on SFOS 1.x).

None of the suggestions worked (no running apps, eliminate choice of connection-type, repeated connecting), which makes me suspect that it might be some corporate security issue with these pc-s I was trying (Win 7 Enterprise, PCs at my work, from time to time changed by IT dept). The phone on the other hand connects to my private Win 10 PC.

I have found that my phone only appears in my PC when I connect it with no applications running. If I have even one running application it will not appear in Windows.

The first time I did connect my Jolla via MTP after 2.0.1.11 it didn't show up, but after checking if it wasn't on charge only or developer mode on usb, had to disconnect it and reconnect for it to be seen by Windows 8.1 Another tip is to change the modes while the device is still connected to the pc, I mean to cycle between charge only - developer - and MTP drivers should be installed for them and force windows to detect the device via MTP. Worked for me anyway

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to cycle the connection modes while connected, when I get to those PC-s again in two weeks.

The mtp functionality has not really changed since 1.1.7, so 2.0.1 upgrade should not cause any additional problems.

However there are some known issues like: Large number of files in directories exposed via mtp in general, and generating thumbnails for pictures accumulated since the last time mtp was used. These can cause significant delays in mtp startup - which can then lead to delays (takes long time before pc side shows device content) or timeouts/errors (pc side gives up).

Waiting a while, disconnecting the cable and then reconnecting might help under some circumstances.

Note: Upgrade 2.0.2 contains improvements to mtp functionality.

just to make sure we understand each other: it's not an issue of not being able to see the contents, but the device (Phone & card) not showing up at all. I find no sign of anything happening after plugging in the cable. I see that it's not a new problem, and reading the comments above it indeed seems to be around for a while, but I experienced it after the upgrade to 2.0.1.11. I have on the other hand experienced what you describe, and understand that it has something to do with the number of files on Jolla.

For me Windows sometime tries to install drivers or what ever it does when you connect "new" device to the system and it might fail few times first or it might work on first try (don't know why Windows sometimes forgets these drivers installed in the past). If your Windows doesn't show anything about new device being connected, it might be generating thumbnails etc. like @spiiroi suggested and show up as connected device after it has done its task.

I had MTP working every single time up to the latest update of 2.0.X.X. Phone was showing nicely. Now trying everything I find from forums, but no success. I feel that these "improvements" did crash the whole thing atleast for me... I could wait for hours and it won't show up. Furthermore car entertainment system on VW Golf blacks out totally when Jolla is connected.
