I almost never use the suggested words when typing, so I would appreciate an option to disable this feature. This would free some screen space that now is used by the virtual keyboard.

Agree completely. I never use suggestions. Also it has been said that even your passwords can show up in the suggestions.

Typing an unsupported language, say Dutch, now results in spamming the selected language file, say English, full of words in a foreign language, which makes the prediction list for that language much less useful as well.

Also, in some situations text prediction is counterproductive anyway.

100% agree, it would "save" space one row (like in the browser) if it could be turned off. That would help me more than the word prediction, since I don't like use it anyway. In my opinion typing alone is faster than typing & watching if it finds the words that I'm trying to input.

I also totally agree, since Swiss-German is and will never be a supported language. Therefore, it is only lost space that just hides the last few lines of the conversation that e.g. I would like to reply. So please implement an option to disable the word-predection.

Agree with that! Also have a look at this topic which is about disabling autocorrect feature: https://together.jolla.com/question/41627/feature-request-option-to-turn-onoff-keyboard-autocorrect/

n.b. you'd lose the ability to paste, that function would have to be relocated onto the keyboard with e.g. some longpress somewhere

@goldenm the clipboard icon still resides in this line. What about moving it to another location, just showing this keyboard row when there is something in the clipboard or just the clipboard icon an having the rest of this line transparent. Moving the clipboard icon to another locstion could break the expected location for many users.

As Fuzzillogic said, it can be counterproductive. And it really is for me, as I sometime press by mistake on one of the suggested word. If I press a wrong letter once in a while, people will all the same understand my messages. But if a suggested world is pressed by mistake, it actually f*cks everything up and messages are not understandable.

So please, please, put an option to disable it, even if it is an empty row with the paste button only.

If you want it removed completely, remove the package that contains it: rpm -e jolla-xt9 This worked fine for me.

Marcel Pol ( 2019-12-13 23:48:41 +0300 )edit

This should be written in terminal?

kriziak ( 2019-12-14 20:57:18 +0300 )edit

Yes, as root (after devel-su).

It is just about removing the package jolla-xt9, which does the text-prediction.

Marcel Pol ( 2019-12-14 22:56:43 +0300 )edit

It wrote me failed because it's needed for installed patterns-sailfish-xt9. Also the same for patch hide word suggestion (but this patch I can simple remove). The first reason I can't overcome.

Do I have to remove something?
