I'm currently in the process of RMAing a defective SD card that was used in the Jolla 1 only. As this card failed after just two months of usage the manufacturer asked me the following question:

Ist Ihr Smartphone von dessen Hersteller als UHS-Kompatibel bezeichnet? Bei einer Inkompatibilität kommt es nach 1 – 6 Monaten zu einem Fehlerspeicherüberlauf, der die Karte in den hier beschriebenen Schreibschutzmodus versetzt.

Translation:

Is your Smartphone classified as UHS-1 compatible by the manufacturer? If there's an incompatibility there will be a memoryerror-overflow after a - 6 months, bringing the card into read-only mode like your described.

It's not the answer you expected, but the question was asked already here: https://together.jolla.com/question/34087/wiki-microsd-microsdhc-microsdxc-card/#comment-34302 and answered by https://together.jolla.com/question/34087/wiki-microsd-microsdhc-microsdxc-card/#comment-34677

Jolla seems to be UHS-I compatible. At least I have SanDisk Ultra 64GB UHS-I -card and it works. I use it to store music files (at the moment). Have not tested it for recording video where the complications would occur more easily.

I just reread some comments and this answer is even better:

Any device, which is able to mount and access a SDXC-card, is. Might be, you should have a look at my link to the resp. entry in wikipedia?

And Wikipedia says https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#SDXC

BTW I'm using a sandisk ultra sdhc 32 GB card which is a UHS-I card as well. It works for 2,5 years now.

Sorry, but this really isn't what I'm looking for. I need facts, not guesses.

I have some devices which aren't UHS compatible (they can't produce the 1.8 V but only fixed 3.3, see: https://www.sdcard.org/press/past_evens/pdf/SD_Standards_and_Technology_GWTaipei_Oct2014.pdf ) but use UHS cards (some of them even in, with 3.3 v clearly not standard conform, SDR50 mode).

The Wikipedia link says UHS was classified in SD version 3.0 but SDXC is 3.01.

Last see:

SDXC cards will work in SDHC compatible readers (not SD readers) if the computer OS supports exFAT

(Source: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2520/~/sd%2Fsdhc%2Fsdxc-specifications-and-compatibility ) So thanks for taking the time to sort out the links but you see: The picture is way bigger than "It supports the size of the card, so it also supports UHS"

//EDIT: And driving a UHS (1.8 v) card in a none-UHS host (3.3 v) is probably exactly what the guy from Transcend wants to know.

//EDIT²: BTW, I also asked the guy from Transcend why the card has a class 10 Label when it doesn't support a fallback from UHS-1 to class 10...

Yeah. I'd like to have facts as well (that's why I was keen to check the device and other mentionings to UHS-I compatibility. To get facts you have to ask Jolla support I'd say. They should be able to tell you the device used. But as I use a UHS-I card as well and others too, I'd say the Jolla does not cause the problem that your card manufacturer describes. As far as I understood the compatibility matrix for SD cards and readers that comment from SD card manufacturer is ridiciulous.

Thanks for the hint about customer support, I tried that but my ticket was instantly closed with

We will have limited availability from mid-June through July, 2016. We will be back to normal operation from 1.August.2016.
If your request is *not* urgent, we, therefore, kindly advise you to re-submit your request in August. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

But I need to RMA the card as fast as possible.

//EDIT: I feel stupid. The phone itself should have the information on board. @naytsyrhc (or any other nice person with a UHS card) could you give me the output of cat /sys/kernel/debug/mmc1/ios ? My defective card just gives garbage (0 Hz isn't a valid speed, also ~2,8 v isn't in the SD spec at all) :

[root@Sailfish nemo]# cat /sys/kernel/debug/mmc1/ios

clock: 0 Hz
vdd: 16 (2.8 ~ 2.9 V)
bus mode: 1 (open drain)
chip select: 0 (don't care)
power mode: 2 (on)
bus width: 2 (4 bits)
timing spec: 2 (sd high-speed)

I get exact the same reading while accessing SD card

clock: 0 Hz
vdd: 16 (2.8 ~ 2.9 V)
bus mode: 1 (open drain)
chip select: 0 (don't care)
power mode: 2 (on)
bus width: 2 (4 bits)
timing spec: 2 (sd high-speed)

Whithout accessing sd card the reading is

clock: 0 Hz
vdd: 0 (invalid)
bus mode: 1 (open drain)
chip select: 0 (don't care)
power mode: 0 (off)
bus width: 0 (1 bits)
timing spec: 0 (legacy)

But doesn't the "4 bits" imply that it is UHS-I mode?
