"The OS is being developed in Scandinavia by a team consisting of developers who used to work for Nokia." Source -> http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_working_on_mobile_os_just_in_case-news-18980.php

Finland is not part of Scandinavia (even though it is one of the Nordic countries).

Commenters on The Register all speculate it is indeed SailfishOS.

There are thousands of people who worked on Nokia, but are not employed by Jolla, so I would guess not.

I have to admit that, I am struggling to understand the question raised here. Can someone make me see the point here?

Content: A - the idea; B - little historical background ;-); C - what we can and what we should NOT to do; D - how to do it... (...being effective fisher and not nasty spammer ;-) )

A - the idea.

I'd like to suggest what is really important about this mysterious "Huawei OS". Important is to start calling, mailing, asking Huawei to motivate them to deliver Sailfish OS device(s). And I mean all sailors, the crew and any enthusiasts taking on Huawei can / should contact/write/call/etc. them with such a request. This can make Huawei to notice there is Sailfish OS, it is ready to be adopted for Their particular needs (including their famous Android skin "almost like iOS"), and easy to use and develop. And first of all such feedback from market will allow them to notice there is a potential demand for such devices with Sailfish OS. So there will be feedback and facts supporting needed decisions.

B - little historical background ;-)

It is worth to remind here (from memory so details can be not quite precise) that China Telecom was a member of original MeeGo project with Nokia, and they most probably hoped to establish MeeGo as a kind of national-wide OS in China. It was quit warmly accepted and considered as positive idea, what is very important in Chinese culture and business habbits. Finally it has not happened due to what has happened in Nokia and following consequences. So it is quite possible there can be some people who may like that Sailfish is MeeGo continuation and the legacy. As Huawei has not declared what OS it is, I think it has not been decided yet. I would recognise this as a kind of invitation "hey, who want to cooperate with us? We are awaiting offerers". My point: this is the window of opportunity for Jolla through which Jolla quickly should try to offer Sailfish OS as the best candidate. Jolla experience in cooperation with other partners are advantage. Also fact that Jolla has solved tablet issues with dignity and loyalty can be respected there (perhaps) for cultural background. And my biggest hope: Jolla already has made adequate efforts, I hope very, very much. :-)

C - what we can and what we should NOT to do

Added later (as answer): Any attempt to "bombard any CEO with calls" etc. is just a kind of spamming or DDoS or at last distributed denial of understanding my idea ;-) . Just don't do it - most of CEOs after such "event" will have 'traumatic experience" and will NOT want to support anything. But wise&kind asking/requesting/demanding addressed to appropriate staff selling/marketing/etc. departments or teams can create an opportunity. They just collect such demands and built internal opinions on them in part. All like data, charts etc. but e.g. Intex or Osters didn't have any - something has caused they have decided to try. People's demands made that, those who were asking for Sailfish devices. Also those who left at their's mobile operators the same requests. When my operator's call centre was asking about next period contract I was asking for the N9 as must be or I go elsewhere. Now I ask for Sailfish device. Maybe we are small but we are many. It is more about a hive logic and habits, but not about aggressive spamming and I was never meaning anything like that.

D - how to do it... (...being effective fisher and not nasty spammer ;-) )

We don't need to spam anybody. Huawei ask us, at "Product & Technical Support" subsite directly: "Get Help | Email Support Please email us your questions regarding any Huawei Device product. Email us
| Hotline Support View our global hotlines " - lets just use it to help spread Sailfish. "

This is my small proposal "how to" :

1) Here http://consumer.huawei.com/en/contact-us/index.htm?tag=hotline you can send them a mail with request, in English or other language. Also here are hotlines which means you can just call them in your language and just ask "I want Sailfish OS device what you can offer me?" and explain you just want it. The easiest way I think, devote a call to help spread Sailfish.

2) Here https://www.facebook.com/huaweimobile/ you can ask at facebook, explanation needed? I think not. ;-)

3) Here https://twitter.com/huaweimobile you can twit them with ask/demand/request - well, even one hundred twits like "#I_want_SailfishOS device, what you can offer me? What mobile? What tablet?" will be noticed and will left a trace of demand. We can generate much more. Lets tweet - but kindly please! Eventual hashtag: #I_want_SailfishOS

4) This is general site http://consumer.huawei.com/en/index.htm you can choose there your language to explore it easier.

5) You can find a better way then my proposal listed above, let us know better ideas. Let us know eventually also what you have done.

Let's use endless possibilities of our ecosystem community. If we will not try we will never know - let's give the Huawei a chance to show the World they can do Sailfish devices for us :-) Can they?

OKay, just call Huawei CEO, the number is +86(0755)339X XXXX I like these ideas. :-) (sorry, sarcasm day)

@Macilaci457: I detect your sarcasm. Bombarding the CEO is not the wisest of choices.

On the other hand: If all of a sudden dozens (let's be realistic) of inquiries about Sailfish OS hit their sales team, it would probably raise some interest.

Big companies want numbers, polls, and reports. Not wishes. Make a poll with the title: "I want to buy a Huawei phone if it comes factory shipped with Sailfish". if that got many likes or votes, that could count.
