Hi. Device bricked after system update failed. Recovery mode + factory reset process apparently OK until

Recovery procedure terminated SUCCESSFULLY! Now cleaning up... [CLEANUP] Starting cleanup! [CLEANUP] Umounting top volume... [CLEANUP] Umounting /mnt

then stalled for more than one hour.

Now unable to re-enter recovery mode. Ticket submitted to Jolla Zendesk. Automatic answer : on holiday until August 1st. Ticket closed automatically. Anything I can do in the mean time?

Thx but no. This workaround requires recovery mode, which is not available currently.

If you have a Linux pc connect it to the USB port and then lsusb.

Using AndLinux virtual machine within Windows, lsusb -t shows no device.

Maybe time soon to shift from Windows to Linux for good...

While preparing an attempt to recover the device (https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Sailfish/Backup_Device), and while waiting for new-jolla.img to be copied onto the ext4-formatted sdcard, I tried various ways to turn it on until it entered fastboot mode. Suddenly, the phone woke up and booted in factory OS version (1.0.4.20 Ohijärvi, an old-timer).

No idea of the reason why it has refused to boot for 24 hours then suddenly did it. Now upgrading to the next version, then the next one etc.

Will keep the community informed if and when I succeed (fortunately, it's still Sunday)

Only differences between yesterday and today (most probably not relevant): (1) black TOH replaced with the original white one, (2) SIM card removed (as I installed it in a replacement phone). Any idea if this could be the explanation?

<speculation>There might have been some conflicting with new dual SIM support, that resolved when SIM card was removed.</speculation>

Hi! Thank you for keeping the community informed about the progress made. I will most probably be gathering information from posts like this and will (again, most probably) create a blog post feeding a step by step fix to the community for this issue. Keep your fingers crossed as I'm trying to find out what's the best way of doing this!

Speculation indeed. Not sure Taalojärvi 2.0.1.10 has dual SIM support: I believe this is only for the version specially released for Intex and Jolla 'C'. But I may be wrong of course.
