On LG Nexus 5 (hammerhead) only connect once to a bluetooth speaker. If at some point, the connection "dies", a restart is required in order to enable bluetooth again.
Without that restart, the dot next to bluetooth symbol just keeps blinking, without the bluetooth sub-system ever coming "up" again.
Connections "die" with any of two distinct bluetooth speakers I tried, by the way. It happens somehow randomly, but usually either shortly after connecting or not at all.
