Found on a blog:

The new device, which is set to come out in Russia later this summer, also runs Sailfish OS and is the result of a partnership between Oysters and Jolla, Sailfish's creators. The phone's specs likely won't prompt someone to seek out Oysters SF, but they aren't terrible, either. Here we go:

5-inch display
MediaTek MT6753 ARM Cortex-A53 octa-core processor
2GB of RAM
16GB of storage
13-megapixel rear camera
5-megapixel front-facing camera
microSD slot
3,000 mAh battery

There's a new Sailfish OS phone

Old news. It's the best specced SFOS phone announced to date, except for the Turing phone that is a no-go for many due to the lack of SD and USB.

Why on earth does it have buttons on the bottom of the screen :/

Clearly the people behind it have no idea about what SFOS is.

The biggest question is: Will it be available outside of Russia? I find this more and more unnerving, hearing about this and that phone coming with Sailfish preinstalled but only being available in a certain region of the world. It's kind of the Nokia N9 all over again!

@Venty if u live in EU, you can just get Fairphone2

@virgi26 Well, of course I could get a device where I could install Sailfish OS myself. I was also lucky to get one of the Jolla C.

However, I cannot go out and show the Jolla C around because the average user does not reflash his smartphone and thus has no possibility to get to use this revolutionary smartphone OS.

@Venty - It is a good thing that it isn't available outside Russia. The situation allows for rebranding like with the Jolla C (rebranded Intex Aquafish).

I have heard rumours of a rugged sailfish phone from russia too.

And also this model does not support 5 Ghz Wifi. Seriously. Even in Germany there are places you are doomed without it.

@Blizzz Why doomed without 5GHz Wifi ???

@malk4ever for instance, at the Congress, Wifi is really only working with 5Ghz. Even at home 2.4 works not so nicely, because too many 2.4 wifi networks are present.

sigh Looks like I am going to get a Jolla C anyway.

@Blizzz If you can get one... where do you want to get one from?
