Currently when try to adding an account the desktop website of the provider is used. It would be better if the mobile site would be used.

EDIT: For these accounts mobile websites are now used:

  • Google
  • Facebook

Yes, the issue is that we use QtWebkit-based webview to render the accounts login flows, and even if we change the user-agent string to something mobile-esque, it always lays out the content in a desktop-centric manner.

(That's not strictly true - if we pass a known-Android or iPhone UA string we do get back a page that is rendered properly for mobile, however in those cases the page generally includes Android or iPhone specific elements "Download the Facebook App from the AppStore" etc, so we don't use those UA strings. Facebook also returns a more touch-friendly page if we use the Opera Mobile UA string, but the page doesn't render very nicely.)

In short, we're looking at fixing this by instead using the Mozembed (Mozilla-based embedded Gecko) engine to render webpages in the accounts flow (and also the email application). That same engine is used for Sailfish Browser and it works very nicely, but there's some work required to make it possible.
