How do you restore a backup on Jolla-C (2.0.2.45) [duplicate]

Just got my Jolla-C and have moved the SD card across from the J1, with a set of back-ups on it. However, I cannot find anywhere to restore from any of those back-ups. It's not that it's failing, there just doesn't seem to be any way to actually start the process.

I vaguely remember some discussion of this somewhere (here or maybe TMO), but searches on the relevant sites fail to through anything up, as far as I can see.

People isn't an issue as I was able to transfer contacts vie bluetooth. But I can't see an easy way of moving anything else over.

Has anyone managed to do this, and if so, how?

Thanks, but no that's not the conversation I remember seeing (though the memory's not what I think it might have been). It is the only relevant one I could find in my search today, though. Which is why I asked there - though I'm not overly confident of a reply there.

There seems not to be an obtion for restoring, but I guess it is just a matter of time that there is an alternative for that too.

I ended up doing the following as the backup on Jolla did not create a tar file on my sd.

tar cf $HOME/vault.tar -C $HOME .vault

Copy the file to your card on your Jolla C (you already have these there though)

tar xpf /media/sdcard/xxx/vault.tar (or whatever the tar file on your card is, i.e., tar xpf /med tab, tab, vault, tab

Then open backup in the settings and you should see list of the backups from your tar file, select the one you want to restore and Jolla will update the backup to a new format after which it appears in the restorable list of backups.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not working for me.

I have a Backup.tar on the SD card, and when I select Update Backup it lists all the backups in it. I previously tied updating the most recent and after it said that was successful, the UI didn't change and still no restores are listed.

So I tried your steps above and extracted from the tar file. I now have two backup files (the most recent two) in the SD card directory. Still no restore point listed. I then tried to update the latest backup again (all of the backups from the tar file are still listed as options). Again, after success, no restore point listed.

Finally, I copied the backup files to $HOME/.vault and tried again, again exactly the same result.

This looks to be the cause of my issue: https://together.jolla.com/question/136773/backup-restore-from-jolla1-to-c-not-work/?answer=138702#post-id-138702

It's looking to me like the Jolla 1 will need to be upgraded before backup/restore method can be used to move data from the Jolla 1 to the Jolla C, which was the purpose of this.
