I wanted to ask if someone has succeded rooting his Alien Dalvik on Jolla C yet

So far, the method used on Jolla Phone will not work on Jolla C

I was told we're having Android 4.4 as Alien Dalvik, thus "Android 4.4 API lvl 19 Kitkat" as a base to work off. Checking the provided insights from https://su.chainfire.eu/ I tried to look up if Alien Dalvik on Jolla C makes use of SELinux in any form - however I'm not sure yet.

Putting the files in the right place might not be enough this time if we have to handle policies and more.

I fear getting root to work on Alien Dalvik this time might be a long and painful procedure.

Hope someone comes around the corner with a brilliant idea that just works out of the box ;)

Have you already checked: https://openrepos.net/content/coderus/aliendalvik-superuser ? (I did not test, just found it some time ago)

It's not meant for anything but Jolla 1 ;)

Yes, this app from Coderus is also working for the Jolla C.

Have you tried an app that requires root permissions and uses the promts from coderus app? I cannot get it to work on my Jolla C. The package from openrepos installs just fine as does the apk coming along, but the su binary seems to fail for me :-(

Should there be a su in /opt/alien/bin ? because I might have deleted mine before trying coderus package again...

@Jordi ,can you confirm it to work with an app that requires root?

@MoritzJT, sorry, I was wrong, it's not working :(

On the Jolla 1, I'm using 3 apps which need root: Wifikill, Netcut and cSploit. On the Jolla C, I thought that Netcut was working because there were no message stating otherwise when starting the app. But it doesn't work either.

We should ask Coderus if he can do something about it. Edit: done, he says he will take a look on it once he receives his JollaC.
