I ordered the Intex Aqua Fish through ebay for around 70 Euro and the same was delivered yesterday. On unpacking the box, btw the packaging is nice and looks premium is to be appreciated for such a low cost device, the box is divided into two sections, one contains the phone, screen protector and the manual and the other section contains the battery, charger with removable usb cable so the same can be used for data transfer to the computer, headphones.

After unpacking the device, I inserted the battery and fired it up. The built quality is pretty good and seems good, there is no creaking and the back cover is fixed firmly and the phone feels good to hold. In fact the phone is lighter than the Jolla 1 even though the screen is bigger and is noticeably slimmer also. There is provision for dual sims and one memory card slot. Though the pre installed apps are few it has an store app (I reckon it is a rehashed aptoide store and surprisingly it has an Google Play app which can be installed on the phone), though the icon for Google Play do not appear but it can be accessed from the Store - Downloads and now viola you can install any app from Google Play right out of the box without any tweaking. The phone shows a 4g signal with ease even in areas where the Jolla 1 doesn't (this has got to do with the fact that our area has an hybrid 4g n/w with bands 3 and 40 and Jolla 1 has only Band 3 but the Intex supports both bands). The display is gorgeous and in future I would like to see Jolla on higher resolution displays.

Gripes

  1. Single swipe to lock action as
available earlier should be enabled to give a better user experience
  2. There is no search from the browser address bar directly
  3. LED notification has only one colour
  4. The call quality and reception needs some improvement, maybe can be done via a software update.
  5. I would like more multicolor back covers as accessories for this
even if they are not NFC enabled
  6. Cases and protectors need to be
marketed for this, now this is very hard to find

I hope the mods can convey our wishes to Jolla for early resolution for the same.

Is the developer mode and ssh/root access available?

Restore swipe to lock patch has been adjusted for SFOS 2.0.2.43 but it is not yet available through openrepos.

@eson yes developer mode and root/ssh access available

dillihifi ( 2016-07-21 10:46:28 +0300 )edit

@inta the version of the intex is 2.0.2.45

dillihifi ( 2016-07-21 10:47:09 +0300 )edit

@dillihifi Well I don't think thats a problem unless the effected files were changed again in 2.0.2.45 but I can't verify that because Jolla C is still on 2.0.2.43.

  1. In the Settings - Gestures you find the Quick app closing that will 'close the app instead of opening the top menu when you are inside an app'. For 3. led color has only one color is another question available. I suggest to upvote that one....

I was asking about swipe to lock not about closing the app

dillihifi ( 2016-07-21 10:22:36 +0300 )edit

Yeah swipe tap is necessary or clicking the power button.

for 2.) Probably the solution from https://together.jolla.com/question/138463/jollac-howto-fix-missing-browser-search-engines/ will work on the AquaFish, too

I ordered Intex Aqua Fish from eBay India in the beginning of August in Finland. Delivery took about three weeks, price was phone Rs 5499, delivery cost Rs 1600. Total is Rs 7099 and it should be below 100e, but until now I have not get the credit card invoice. So Intex is awailable at least in Finland via eBay India.

I have not yet tested it so much, one thing I marked was that the phone is using Ext4 filesystem instead of btrfs. I don't know, how it is in JollaC.

Did you find any good screen protector for Intex Aqua Fish? Or is it same for Jolla C which is mentioned in this thread?

@Tom A screen protector was packed in the box, using the same. Have seen a listing of a tempered glass protector on ebay.

@eson - thx, I bought that one, I hope taht it'll fit AquaFish without problem.

@tom.i It will fit. AquaFish is the exact same phone as Jolla C, except for some on board networking detail.

eson ( 2016-08-16 10:52:50 +0300 )edit

Hi Can you please share the link of the tempered glasses ?
