Hello i have no idea if sailfish support 64bits processors.
I find relatively difficult to find such info on the web.

Was wrong formulated from me before...
HOw can i find in which Architecture system is build sfos (32bits or 64bits).
If we have a 32bits cpu then there no problem to guess on what sfos is build.

But if the cpu have 64bits, how could we know that sfos is build with 32bits or 64bits?
Why couldn't we have the info directly from sfos itself, with cli or from gui?

Cheers

Well by further searching on the web, i found this in tjc, that tjc search didn't gave me:
https://together.jolla.com/question/132186/about-sailfish-os-updated-64-bit-or-not/
https://together.jolla.com/question/134438/can-i-port-for-arm-v8/?answer=134444#post-id-134444
Then, seems that sfos may support both plateform (don't know how may i tell it). Many works have been done that it could works as 64bits built OS... But it don't display it explicit.
That would be not bad if the os may give this info with cli and on gui.

I'll wait a little bit to know if this infos are correct.

On Jolla 1, SfOS 2.0.1.11, in cli: $ uname -a => Linux Jolla 3.4.108.20150901.1 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Apr 24 12:19:33 UTC 2016 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

So built for armv7l. Armv7 is 32b. Only armv8 allows 64b.

SoC Qualcomm MSM8930 => 32 bits only

hmhm, is not explicitly written, but as phklrz we could know it.
But it is not the info on which format sfos it is builded.
I ask me why sfos could not give this info by himself.

wikipedia -> jolla#First_unveiled_device): Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.4 GHz dual-core

wikipedia -> snapdragon 400: 8930AA -> krait 300, jolla

search -> krait 300: 32 bit

last link isnt the best source i think, but considering the age of the cpu its obviously 32bit anyway... its wasnt that hard to find imo....

@misc11 sorry failed, but you seems not to have understand the question.
many os which are 32bits may works on 64bits platforms, and are only 32bits. Others are flexible.
Knowing that a cpu is 32bits, don't means explicitly that the os cant support 64bits (and inverted).
With the new russian phone the cpu is 64bits. Means could work 32bits os and 64bits too.
How could you see on which one is your os designed? 32 bits or 64bits?
by jp1 is quite easy, you gave the way that i made too.
But this way it is the good one by a serious project?

@cemoi ahh ok, right i misunderstood you... so from what ive heard sailfish is 32bit only so far, but i dont know that for sure! and yeah, running it on a 64bit arch would just run it in 32bit mode...

so yeah maybe somebody with some inside can tell if theres development towards 64bit (i hope so)

yeah my question wasn't well formulated, sorry.

Here information about new smartphone with Sailfish OS planning - OYSTERS SF

This device is based on MTK 6753 SoC (64 bit). I think if not now, than when it will be released, SF will support arm64 arch.

I've seen it too, but gives no informatioon if sfos is 32bits or 64bits, there are many os which works on 64bits but are only 32bits
