[release notes] 2.0.2 / Aurajoki [released]
Sailfish OS 2.0.2 is named 'Aurajoki', the river going through Turku, a beautiful Finnish city. To gain some momentum, we have decided to switch our release codenames from lakes to rivers!
This release continues to improve the Sailfish OS 2.0 experience. Storage settings allow users to format, and safely eject memory cards. It also provides access to the files on the device and on memory cards. Cloud support continues to evolve with a support of VK and with backup support for OneDrive and DropBox. With release 2.0.2 Sailfish OS adds support for Intex Aqua Fish and Jolla C devices. New hardware features of the devices, like FM radio and Dual SIM are now supported.
This release brings a lot of improved features and fixes. Thank you for the feedback and making yet another big upgrade possible!

Upgrading your devices
This is the usual drill before attempting to upgrade your devices,
- If you use Phonehook from OpenRepos, uninstall it before upgrading.
- If you use Patchmanager, revert all applied patches before upgrading.
- Take a backup of your data before attempting to upgrade your device. A successful backup operation is indicated by a green dot in the UI.
- Do not reboot the device while the update is in progress.
- The device screen may blank out during the update process, you may waken the display by a short press on the power key to monitor the progress.
- Do keep the phone connected to a battery charger during the whole process.
For detailed instructions on updating software, visit Zendesk [ https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201836347 ].
If connected to the internet, and your account is subscribed for Early Access releases, your Jolla device should receive an OS update notification shortly.
Known issues
- Very rarely Jolla tablet fails to boot homescreen after update. Workaround it is to reboot the device
- Rarely pulley menu gets stuck on Jolla. Workaround is to swipe to enter home, and then go back to app and now the pulley menu should work again.
- Currently the backup and restore operations are limited to the size of the /tmp partition, which is typically around 1GB when empty. If this condition is not met, the backup operation creates an erroneous backup, or the restore operation fails to restore the backup correctly. A fix is underway for this, but in the meantime, you can clear the contents of /tmp before doing a backup or restore to maximize the available space. If you have very large files that cannot be well compressed (e.g. videos) or a sizeable collection of large files (e.g. photos) that will cause the /tmp limit to be exceeded, move these to the memory card or some other off-device location before starting the backup/restore. Note that videos and images are not included in cloud-based backups so this is predominantly an issue for memory card backup/restore operations.
finally! after all this while I thought we have been forgotten. Early access? I guess protocol is required. Expecting the rolling out to all with all eagerness. Keep up the good work! Has the ghost covers issue been addressed? didn't see it mentioned
DameCENO ( 2016-07-28 14:31:59 +0300 )editThe changelog link is redirected to the 2.0.1 changelog. Is this expected?
tetris11 ( 2016-07-28 14:45:51 +0300 )editIt will be updated soonish..
jiit ( 2016-07-28 15:22:51 +0300 )editHm, after update i still cannot find any reference to mozilla positioning on my JollaC.
Swl ( 2016-07-28 15:45:20 +0300 )editAllow copying text to clipboard in Office. Big +1! Now just waiting for that feature in Browser.
Aslanex ( 2016-07-28 18:28:44 +0300 )editUpdated Jolla 1 without drama.
Manatus ( 2016-07-28 18:36:29 +0300 )editSupremely awesome! :)
gnuheidix ( 2016-07-28 21:03:52 +0300 )editThe upgrade showed a blank screen after appearing to have rebooted, on checking the update status it appeared the upgrade didn't complete, however, the icon had changed to the new one though. Triggered the upgrade again. After re-triggering the upgrade, it appears to have finished, however, the Wifi module cannot be switched on.
I have had to do a phone reset after which the WLAN is working. Ringing the Jolla phone from another, i can hear the phone ringing. Helping me conclude that it was not a hardware problem. I did not have OpenRepos installed at the first place, so don't know what caused it. Installed some store apps for testing. Didn't go smoothly. Again don't know why. I than began the step by step upgrades. Had a reboot looop.... had to go into release mode.....got it back to factory settings and started the upgrade again. :) an evenings work hain!
As of this morning the phone is back to the latest release. All works fine. Don't know what caused the issue though.
Is there a obvious log that one could look into and share to debug find the fault, if by some off chance this happened again.
On other note: Cant close apps by swiping from top to bottom anymore, it gets me every time.
TheOwlEye ( 2016-07-29 10:01:40 +0300 )editCant close apps by swiping from top to bottom anymore, it gets me every time.
TheOwlEye ( 2016-07-29 10:13:49 +0300 )editIs there a obvious log that one could look into and share, so as to debug\ trace faults during upgrade, if by off chance the upgrade goes tits up?
TheOwlEye ( 2016-07-29 10:14:55 +0300 )edit@TheOwlEye You are able to turn on the app closing gesture under settings > gestures.
If you have developer mode enabled you could execute 'version --dup' in terminal to download all missing packages (if there should be any missing packages after an unsuccessful update).
Alex ( 2016-07-29 11:19:43 +0300 )editThank you Alex, I had forgotten all about the setting for closing app with swipe.
As for the 'version --dup' command solution i guess that's one to remember for next time.... I am certain this will not recur :)
TheOwlEye ( 2016-07-29 15:07:30 +0300 )edit@veskuh in thread Text above, it is written "release" is it not "early access"?
cemoi71 ( 2016-07-29 15:13:33 +0300 )edit@cemoi71 Edited title to accoringly to clarify
veskuh ( 2016-07-29 15:53:02 +0300 )editcool! thanks
cemoi71 ( 2016-07-29 16:36:51 +0300 )editAfter having updated to 2.02.48 for both original Jolla and Jolla C, I have to admid as an everyday user, that everything went well. I have not a long experience with Jolla C, but everything seem to work well. Thank you Jolla!
Ps. Please, could someone to advice me from where I could buy a wallet case for Jolla C? As a clumsy user I have to have a shelter case also for my Jolla C. :) :) :)
N9Sailfish ( 2016-07-30 10:39:27 +0300 )editUpdated Jolla 1 - works fine, only mobile electronic signature stopped to work.
Description of new update - " Storage settings allow users to format, and safely eject memory cards." - for Jolla C it is not possible to remove nor SIM cards nor SD card without getting out the battery...
Andrej ( 2016-08-01 10:46:46 +0300 )editJolla 1 - I can confirm that mobile electronic signature authentication (SIMKIT) stopped to work with Aurajoki update. Btw is it now possible have in Jolla 1 via I2C another SIM, eg SIM2?
DarkWhite ( 2016-08-02 14:11:24 +0300 )editUpdated my Jolla 1 and found increased system power consumption and small delay when switching from lockscreen.
zaur ( 2016-08-13 18:15:54 +0300 )edit@veskuh Please, remember to fix Calendar issues I reported on TJC! (selection ui of calendars, multi-day issue, copy-paste between calendars, etc..
palikao ( 2016-08-20 11:58:33 +0300 )edit@veskuh could you tell us if there currently any blocker in the aurajoki improvement list which avoid the release of it?
cemoi71 ( 2016-08-31 15:51:33 +0300 )edit@cemoi71 No known blockers at the moment.
veskuh ( 2016-08-31 16:59:41 +0300 )editcool thx for the info :-)
cemoi71 ( 2016-08-31 17:07:46 +0300 )edit@veskuh, is it feasible if it's happen that a strong blocker like last time, that it would be communicate to the community, for having more volunteer for reproducibility searching and furthermore bug-hunting and solving possibilities?
cemoi71 ( 2016-08-31 17:11:05 +0300 )editWhat's the changelog between 2.0.2.48 and 2.0.2.51? Is it only the Jolla C LTE fix, or others as well?
jwalck ( 2016-08-31 19:20:10 +0300 )editI ran into a slight hiccup when installing 2.0.2.51, the backup ran for ever (happened both on my Jolla 1 and Jolla C). After I cancelled the backup and restarted the upgrade installation without doing a backup the upgrade installed without any issues.
WilliePre ( 2016-08-31 22:46:25 +0300 )editUpdated to 2.0.2.51 smoothly, patch size is 7 MB, the only change observed so far by me is that the first app icon in a folder filled with apps will no longer be flickering upon opening the folder.
