Hi guys,

I like to lock the screen of my Jolla C elegantly using gestures and one hand only. Therefore the best solution in theory is the swipe to lock gesture in the home screen. However, due to the big screen size of the Jolla C it's impossible to reach the top edge of the screen comfortably using one hand only (unless you are blessed with giant hands like Michael Phelps). Since it will take quite a while until evolution will adapt the size of the average human hand to match the screen size of nowadays smartphones, I suggest a new feature: Adding the lock-screen function to the home screen pulley. Right now, there is only the close all function in the home screen pulley. By adding this function it would be possible again to lock the screen elegantly using one hand only.

You should be able to reach the power button with your thumb or finger to lock the device if you can't reach the top of the screen.

What I think would be better is double tap to sleep on the multitasking view (free area) just like some Android devices support it.

Well, pressing the power button is not really an alternative given that sailfish is an almost purely gesture based os. Moreover, the power button of my former Nokia N9 was defect after two years of heavy usage. The best way to prevent such a mechanical failure is to avoid using any mechanics like physical buttons. I like your idea of double tapping the home screen for locking the screen. However, if 4 apps are running, then there is no more empty space left to double tap on. In contrast my approach using the pulley menue is more robust. I think the home screen pulley should be customizable like the lock screen pulley. Just give the user the freedom of choice.
