How is Jolla going to keep up updates for all devices?
As seen with android, the manufacturers have to create the updates.
Since there are more devices coming with sailfish OS, how is jolla going to keep up with updating all of them? I sincerely hope I will keep getting updates on my jolla 1, it still works very well.
Or is there something I miss in the OS that makes it easier to keep up to date for all devices?
I thought that was the whole idea of an OS: that it is the same for all devices.
The hardware adaptation layer is a different matter, that is up to the hardware manufacturer.

r0kk3rz ( 2016-08-02 13:29:34 +0200 )editPoint taken. I forgot that HAL is a technical term (and I should not, it's more or less my job :)).
I meant a bit below that, like drivers etc.
pichlo ( 2016-08-02 15:40:58 +0200 )editSo manufacturers will only have to update their drivers for each update? What if they don't?
Shmet ( 2016-08-02 17:37:31 +0200 )edit@Shmet, drivers don't need updating unless there is a reason to update them, like a bug or something.
I don't see why there would be any major difference between the userspaces of sailfish devices
