My primary email is an exchange account, so you can imagine what a headache it is when it doesn't work. I don't recall ever having big issues (occasionally not syncing read status is hardly a big issue, although mildly annoying) with the working of the account on my original Jolla phone, but they turned up with the Jolla C. I'm not part of the early access crew, so my phone is still running 2.0.2.43 it was shipped with.

I also encountered the account creation issues, but managed to resolve them simply by restarting the phone a couple of times. So I got the account set up, syncing worked perfectly and everything was peachy. For about two days that is. After two days the account simply stops syncing. The email app says it's unable to sync without giving any explanations and the calendar won't even do that much. The account itself claims to be active and gives no error messages.

I have tried playing around with the various settings (provisioning etc.), but none of that works. The only solution I have now is removing and recreating the account, but having to do that every couple of days (and feeling paranoid about the reliability of my email in the mean time) is really not a lasting answer.

Anyone else have similar issues and how have you solved them?

UPDATE 22.8.2016 I updated my OS to 2.0.2.48, but it didn't help with the issue. I've now removed and recreated the account several times. During each time the account gets created, the sync works for an arbitrary amount of minutes. Half the times email doesn't sync at all and part of calendar events go missing. I'm giving up and waiting for the eventual stable update release, hoping this issue will get fixed. I'm counting on a bug this big not escaping the developers attention (please don't prove me wrong!)

UPDATE 9.9.2016

Updated my Sailfish to 2.0.2.51 yesterday. Still needed to recreate the account and now it seems the syncing is working. Sort of, anyway. Syncing seems a bit arbitrary though, as most of the time the email app claims it fails to synchronize while the messages still make it through. Don't know yet how well the calendar sync is working. It randomly synced my appointments once or twice during the couple of weeks after I gave up on trying to actively solve this.

TL;DR OS update solved the problem PARTIALLY. Still not 100 % functional.

I did have the same problem with the Aquafish and 2.0.2.43. It did not setup the account (sync) very well. Not all contacts, etc. I did a manual update to 2.0.2.48 and now it works without a problem over here.

I have the exact same problem with aqua fish. It is syncing folder, but no mails.

@richdb how did you manually update it?

I have same problem. With "original" Jolla Exchange integration adn sync works well, but with Jolla C accaunt creation process crashed many times before went throuh and sync is unsteady.

Updated my OS (thanks for the instructions @richdb) but the problem persists. I've now removed and recreated the account several times and it appears quite arbitrary what gets synced and for how long.

@shantanoo. First you have to activate the developer mode (Settings>Developer Mode>Turn it on). This take a while and when it has finished you got an new icon in the apps drawer named Terminal. Open this, and in the terminal enter those commands:

ssu release 2.0.2.48

version --dup

After the command version --dup SailfishOS get updated to version 2.0.2.48. If this proces is finished reboot you Phone.

Cheers! Never thought the manual update was this easy. Didn't help with the syncing issue though
