hey guys.

as the headline says i cant update... i use v2.0.1.11 and want to update to todays release of v2.0.2.51.

i can see the update
it prepares the update / does balance
it downloads the update

when i try to install the update, i get the usual screen with the sailfish name and logo and the loading bar. a short time later the following text appears additionally:

"Sailfish OS could not be updated. Please try again later." sailfish name, logo, loading bar "the device will restart now" OK-button

normally i would think the servers are just too busy with everybody updating, but the update did actually load! (a bit slow though). so it should be a problem with my phone right???

what i tried:

of course unapplied all patches
btrfs balance checker says im at 75% - which should be ok
reboots, including taking the battery out
/tmp is empty
retried updating 4 times
ssu re 2.0.1.11 since it was set to latest

any help or ideas?

i hear i could try version --dup but im not sure if everythings save there?

edit: after about 10 tries through the GUI is just worked - didnt change anything...

I've just had this, twice while trying to update to Jämsänjoki. Unapplying patches was the first thing I did before attempting to update, but it didn't help. As per nthn's suggestion, I uninstalled ANYTHING openrepos related, including the new and nifty Warehouse app by osetr. 3rd time lucky, I have the SailfishOS Logo and the white bar..............[>>>>>>>]..........idiot bar watching, reminds me of XP days, watching that damn blue/green bar, just waiting for it all to f**k up! :D

Just had this problem with the latest 2.1.2.3

I do not have openrepos installed. Only Whatsapp and Instagram are installed. Enough space is available too. What can I do to update?

@devarshi84 well, without openrepos that seems new. i just tried it again and again... and at some point it worked. the last update took me 3 tries. when i posted this it was like 10 tries.

if it doesnt work, please post a new thread. refer to this thread and explain in detail what version, hardware, software you are using and describe how it fails exactly. sorry i cant help, but someone sure will...

Update from 2.1.1.26 to 2.1.2.3 was downloaded but the install did not succeed. It always just hangs immediately and device has just a dark screen. From ssh journal I can see only this relevant message:

The maliit-server.service doesn't even exist on the system

Active: inactive (dead)

Maybe the first update failed somehow miserably.

Trying now the manual update https://together.jolla.com/question/133600/how-to-update-sailfish-the-unofficial-way/ which seems to be working.

This is always caused by some packages from OpenRepos which interfere with the update process for whatever reason. My update to 2.0.2.48 worked perfectly, then the update to .51 broke again, and I have no idea which package(s) is/are causing this problem. The workaround is:

devel-su
ssu re 2.0.2.51
version --dup

Then reboot. It shouldn't take too long because all packages are already downloaded.

@nthn tell me if this could be possible:

the incompatible patches which are being uninstalled prevent the update - every try only uninstalls one patch

the reason i think this: the number of tries to update correlates with the number of patches uninstalled during the update. last time i didnt count, but this time (2.0.5) it matched
