Selfie Stick through Headphone Jack Doesn't Work
The default camera application that comes with Sailfish OS doesn't handle selfie sticks properly that are connected through 3.5mm headphone jack. Some selfie stick triggers volume control when the capture button on the selfie stick is pressed, some sticks doesn't trigger anything. One such is Taotronics Selfie Monopod TT-SH012.
@prashere i too hv the same problem. And it looks like no one caring at all for it
Karthikeyan ( 2017-01-24 14:45:55 +0300 )editcorrect, nobody needed that in 4 years
i still does not
pawel ( 2017-02-24 16:08:24 +0300 )editplease provide evdev_trace -t logs when pressing trigger on selfie stick.
kimmoli ( 2017-02-24 16:11:34 +0300 )editAnd if I where the developer with control over that, I wouldn't care either. Selfiestupidism...Ask someone nice to take a photo. If nobody want to do this for you, you are likely the reason.
hoschi ( 2017-02-24 17:21:23 +0300 )edit@hoschi With that mentality we won't get more users. Please respect each other needs from a mobile OS. It's not because you don't need it that everyone don't need it.
Dylan Van Assche ( 2017-02-24 17:44:46 +0300 )edit@hoschi I myself will not care about selfie, because I am not a selfie maniac. Taking selfie or not is a personal preference. I got a chance to try a selfie stick with this phone, when other devices supports it and when jolla devices doesn't support, you can justify your preferences through arguments (that's subjective), but what reason would you give when a most commonly used accessory doesn't work with this device? (that's objective reality). How can you expect other's to adopt this device if it doesn't work with their accessory?
prashere ( 2017-02-24 18:39:19 +0300 )edit@kimmoli thanks for some directions. I tried evdev_trace -t while plugging the jack into the headphone socket and I found this particular line
prashere ( 2017-02-24 18:40:38 +0300 )edit@Dylan Van Assche: It's about priorities. Instead of fixing the social problem of a selfie-stick user, I would strongly prefer the ability to use the camera app from a locked phone.
hoschi ( 2017-02-24 19:04:28 +0300 )edithow am i not suprised... sorry to be sarcastic but there are so many basic smart phone functions not working properly on jolla (c) that this feature might not be on top of the "things to fix" list.
t0mps0 ( 2017-02-24 23:58:12 +0300 )editIf I was the Jolla developer responsible for "selfie stick" programming, I would make the phone blow up in the face of anybody who connected this moronic device to it. The world needs less selfies and less of the attention-whores who take them - not more. No right-minded person cares about the Jolla selfie-stick problem, and it should be put squarely at the bottom of the priority list. If you're the kind of person who likes taking selfies, odds are you belong to the mindless masses of sheep who have an android or iphone anyway - so, problem solved.
bocephus ( 2017-02-25 11:08:37 +0300 )editIf you don't like something DON'T use it. Others can do whatever they want as long as they don't cause you trouble.
FFS because something has a use YOU don't approve it doesn't mean others can't find it pretty damn useful. Ie a selfie stick and a good front camera can be an excellent live reporting tool for a journalist.
