Auto punctuation disable? [answered]

How can i disable the really annoying keyboard feature of sailfish that inserts a period at every possible opportunity, i dont even know if its automatic or i am fat fingering it on the keyboard, the period is right between the space bar and enter button, please re-design the keyboard to increase the length of the space bar and remove the period, period. Long press on space bar could add the period, or tripple press instead. nobody texting ever and i mean ever uses a period!!!
Probably just fat fingers. I have the same problem, "doing" almost always comes out as "doi.g" because I hit the dot accidentally. Jolla's virtual keyboard is not exactly one of the easiest to work with. I used Sony Xperia Mini a long time ago which was about a third of the size of Jolla and I do not remember ever mistyping a character. On Jolla with a massive screen I mistype all the time.
BTW, the word "period" can mean at least three different things but a punctuation is not one of them! :)
pichlo ( 2016-09-15 09:53:16 +0300 )editI share your frustration about the period getting inserted when I wanted to press space but none of your suggestions actually work because the period is used more often than some letters of the alphabet and must be easily accessible and if you don't know anyone who evarrr uses the period when texting, I suggest you look out for new friends to get a more balanced view.
If you really I mean really want the period removed and get your own "I'm too young for punctuation and I don't want to adapt to uncool rules"-keyboard I suggest you design it, publish it on Openrepos and become a helpful member of the community and the hero of the dotless who might even convince Jolla to include your design in official Sailfish releases only by downloading it really and I mean really often.
