Hi all,

I got a strange bug which is not systematically. Sometimes, I received a 2nd batch of all SMS from a thread, long time after the 1st reception. So, for instance, I received on Sunday 3 text messages from a contact, and Sunday evening, at 23h, I received the same 3 text messages again (when I said "receive again", I meant I got the notification as if I got them again.

I don't know how to provide you logs or something else, so please let me know

Edit: I receive duplicate SMS, not only the notification

Do you receive the SMS again (duplicate SMS) or just the notifications that you have new unread SMS? What is your Sailfish OS version?

I only recall this from the N900 workaround for MMS with frals fMMS program. MMS were delivered but the notification of the delivery never reached the server. MMS would be delivered daily at the same time for ~10 days until the message timed out.

Never had this with any SailfishOS device yet. Neither Jolla 1, Jolla C nor the Aqua Fish. I'm using Swisscom.

It is fairly certain that this is caused by your device not acknowledging the received SMS correctly.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_Message_Service_technical_realisation_(GSM) for the message seqence, especially the part that talks about "mobile terminated Short Message Service".

Failure to ACK the received message will cause it to be resent after a network-dependent timer expires.

That seems to match my observation, on my Jolla 1 it happens when the cpu is on high load and the phone is slowed down
