I think translations are important, have an important time cost (time is money!), is badly considerate by developers, but could be delegate to community.

Translation is not the first thing that developers take care, but it is very disturbing and deserve the user experience when texts are really badly translated. For instance, as in this question when you call someone, during ringing, it is written in French something like "Danger!". It is very strange...

Maybe from a marketing point of view it could be considerate as a bad point to show texts and comments for functionalities in next versions. But Jolla has to become more open or not?

Notes:

  • I'm talking about translation only, not real localization.
  • a similar question about new languages is here. That's why I've firstly close my own question, but at the end I consider it is different and I will focus on existing languages.

Yes, translations are important and an area we we'd want to work together with the community. Please see: https://together.jolla.com/question/5367/collaborative-platform-to-translate-apps-os-in-other-languages/ We are working on opening a community translation tool.

@pvilja: Sorry, I've just closed and now re-opened my own question, because it concerns existing languages (I've also edited the title to be clear). But I would like to really insist on existing ones. But I've voted for the question about new languages of course.

@TeHeR: I think that existing and new translations are concerned by @pvilja's link. You can close this one.

@TeHeR: Our target for community tool is to enable both providing fixes and suggestions to existing languages and create new languages.

@juju_des_highlands: I really disagree with that. "other languages" in the title and "a complete translation in more languages", etc... in the related question doesn't seems to take care about existing / officially supported languages. @pvilja: is your response the "Jolla voice"?
