When I first bought my Jolla 1 I had the same issue: I can't access sd card because the phone won't recognize that a card is present. At least that is what I assume the problem is. I can't get any of my cards listed with any fdisk, df, lsblk commands. I'm afraid this is a hardware problem since dmesg gives me "[ 2.367587] mmc1: Slot eject status = 0" no matter if a card is present or not. So could it be a contact issue with the physical card slot (the spring that gets bent when you push the card in)?

The funny thing is that I had it working for many months, but for about a month now it's been a problem again. Could there be some kind of controversy with files associated with previous mounts? For example I found a file /dev/disk/by-uuid/00BC-614E which I think (but am not 100% sure) is the same as my previous card uuid. Should there be that kind of file present even when there's not an sd card present?

And here's my previous question: https://together.jolla.com/question/124351/solved-new-to-jolla-how-can-i-access-sd-card/

Quite obviously it is a HW problem, you might want to inspect the pins of the SD-card slot and try to clean gently in case that helps.

As for the old-disk UUID remaining there, that's as it should be. All the SD cards you ever mount in your system do leave the old UUID device file as a leftover, but it only gets mounted of course when you insert the card.

It really was hardware problem. I bought myself a spare jolla (usb defect) and replaced the µsd-card and sim-card reader module. I don't know if people have done this before, but it sure worked out for me. The reader "module" is held in place with just some glue and it's rather easy to peel the reader off with a proper flat tool.
