Hello! what is the correct way to update my app/system from terminal?

I'm searching for the equivalent of apt-get update and apt-get upgrade of my Nokia N900.

Is pkcon update safe to call for a normal users?

I have registered no additional repos, but I see that two packages can be updated, when I call pkcon get-update. Is it safe to update them?

I think the absolute safe way is to run pkcon refresh, and then do the update via Store app.
