Hello all, and especially to TRI sailors.

as we could observe some Turing Phone (TP) are delivered to some users.
Me and others (i think) would like to know how is the experiences with the TP1.
how is the average behaviour ? If you still like it? what do you miss? how is it comparing to other phones (eg. JP1)? How is the build quality? The camera quality, performances etc...?

Is the gui the same as the standard sfos Phone? I remember that TRI wanted to have a specific gui or design elements.

That's just a curiosity Have a good sail, cheers

All the reports I have seen so far about the Turing phone came from one person...

i saw 2 people who made a thread:
https://together.jolla.com/question/141246/unable-to-find-the-microsoft-exchange-app-in-the-jolla-store/
https://together.jolla.com/question/148681/cannot-install-sailfish-utilities-on-turing-phone/
@PasiK@Turinguser if you want to spend a little time for it. Would it be possible to have some user experiences from your sides?
I'll understand if you don't want to do it. Is just nice to have.

I'm also highly interested as I though the Turing Phone could be my next hardware until this ridiculous spec sheets came out and now I'm not sure if this is something to believe in still or not. I think some details from every day users could help to understand where TuringPhones are really staying at the moment

that's definitively not my phone because of the non common port. but it will interest me to know how it react comparing to other phones. This is quite modern comparing the other one...

I have only 2 days experience with Turing Phone but overall i have very satisfied with it. Phone itself is very beatiful and unique and it works relatively smooth. Screen is enough bright and clear but i suggest using screen protector which come on the box because glass scratched very easily. Most of applications installs without problem but eg. Sailfish Utilities, YTplayer and Nettiradio not install at all. Also Android apps works well and faster than orginal Jolla phone. Camera is absolutely better than Jolla C and orginal Jolla but i have only take few photos so far... The gui is currently allmost pure Sailfish OS. There is Turings own ambiences (but Jolla sounds) and some light OS modifications. It is a evaluation version and Sailfish OS is aplha stage and i suppose that next OS update make it work even better and some features (eg. fingerprit reader) will be supported later. (sorry my bad english... :))

OK, i can share my experience after i have received next OS update on it. I forgot mention that phone is pretty heavy, even heavily than my old Nokia Lumia 930 and battery life, it is currently poorer than orginal Jolla but I believe that OS and hardware is not optimized still properly.

@pasik "glass scratched very easily" you mean the display scratches easily. So a phone that costs round 600$ according to wikipedia has a display that scratches easily. Very, very strange.

Where does one buy a turing phone? Do you have to frequent a certain Starbucks in Palo Alto and tip your hat to a certain bearded guy with a laptop in order to get onto the very elite and very exclusive pre-order list?

i think the phone doesnt exist and these threads are there to make people do pre orders

@NuklearFart, which is complete nonsense. The pre-order period has been closed for a long, long time. It's currently not possible to (pre-) order a Turing Phone.

@NuklearFart what do you think is up to you, but other think that is exist, and want getting in picture on how it works. If you are currently bored, then you can spend your time to make a poll here and do a survey about who (will)use it and how, or play a game, or in sandbox, or walk around your house many time as you want. But leave the people here in peace and let them what they want to ask to. thx

cemoi71 ( 2016-10-19 16:35:11 +0300 )edit

@NuklearFart: I must admit I would have fallen already for a pre-order trap but I couldn't even order one. On their page you could add your email for pre-order but until now I only got the "news"-letter or maybe "hoax"-letter. I couldn't even find a price which is up to date.... So I'm really wondering about this mystical piece of hardware running with a real OS

PatsJolla ( 2016-10-19 16:40:27 +0300 )edit

omg calm down... i'd love to see another sf device but i dont beleave it will be turing since there were so much rumor and nothing happened. instead of this there were more they need money threads so be careful with that phone.
