How to disable delay time while deleting something
It's not a 5 seconds delay. It's 5 seconds to allow you to change your mind.
Some OSes have "are you sure?" questions, others have remorse timers. With the latter, you can kick off the deletion and then get on with your life doing other things, knowing that the thing will be deleted unless you stop it within the timeout period. It is not 100% consistent, but at least in some apps (e.g. Email), you can even close the app while the timeout is running and the item will be deleted.
If you want a timeout different than 5 seconds, install this patch:

coderus ( 2016-10-23 00:44:05 +0300 )editThe 'delay' does not stop you from navigating away from the page or item, it will still delete it, whether you watch it or not..
Spam Hunter ( 2016-10-23 00:47:56 +0300 )edit@vijaykanth welcome to tjc.
since other people already explained things to, the only thing left to say is: please, only use the "how-to" tag to give step-by-step instruction
misc11 ( 2016-10-23 01:55:54 +0300 )edit@fmotl Because it's the app job to make sure remorse timers are handled on app close, there are several cases where the remorse timer is just canceled on close. Consequence (for me at least): it's not reliable, so I wait... https://together.jolla.com/question/89196/closing-app-cancels-remorse-timer/ There is also the design issue that list items shift in an annoying way when you are browsing and deleting some items.
Tofe ( 2016-10-24 10:41:12 +0300 )edit@Tofe - that's called a bug imho.. My original explanation of remorse timer still stands.
