See blog referenced below. Application launch time for the camera is about 4-5 seconds using 2.0.4.14 Fiskarsinjoki and on the Turing phone. For most use cases that might be ok but otherwise autofocus, using a flash in poor lighting conditions can result in times of ~7 seconds from time of pushing the camera app symbol to completing the picture.

Thats a lot of time if you are trying to capture the moment. Recommend launch optimization of the camera app, maybe permanent process in memory on phone launch, so the app launch can be accellerated. Its not bad by any means but slow enough to be bothersome.

I just tried a friends Huawei Honor 8. With to pushes on volume down, when on the lock screen, the default action is to take a picture. The camera app launches and takes a picture within half a second. This is what Jolla should be aiming at. A smartphone is not a camera per se, but as we (almost) always carry it with us, we expect some features, such as taking a picture, to be there with a minimum of functionality. Maybe half a second is a bit too much to ask for on the Jolla hardware, compared to the Honor 8, but it would be nice if the times on the Jolla was a bit better.
