Keep connection for IM apps when screen locked

I don't remember in which post that someone said Sailfish disconnects to network after screen locked for a while to save battery. But it's not a good idea for IM apps. This feature block the new messages of IM apps. Why not let IM apps like IRC, WeChat, Whatsapp keep connection?

Native apps developers should implement lazy wakeups in own applications. Such APIs already present in SailfishOS. Android applications should be used as-is and SailfishOS should not let em to drain phone battery.

Thank you for explanation. But I don't understand the Android part. So is it possible to let an Android IM app get msgs background?
