a bug would be to use google. u can deciede in settings -> apps -> browser. use duckduckgo ;)
NuklearFart ( 2016-11-15 12:19:15 +0300 )editI also would say search natively with DuckDuckGo if that doesnt work with Bing and then only as last resort with Google.
Thats if you care about privacy and not having add randomly stalk you through the internet.
DarkTuring ( 2016-11-16 17:39:08 +0300 )editWell, I'd suggest an even better (meta) search engine: searx (https://github.com/asciimoo/searx) which is open source and you can host yourself (or use for example framabee.org, which is powered by searx). DuckDuckGo is supposed to preserve your privacy, but you still have to trust them...
alci ( 2016-11-16 22:34:32 +0300 )editThis bug seems to happen, every time, if you make a search with url-field right after starting of the browser. Apparently the browser hasn't loaded all the settings (the default search engine) at that point and uses the one that is first in alphabetical order.
I had "Search engines for Sailfish Browser" installed from OpenRepos and I ended up making searches in Baidu. When I removed that package, the browser started to use Bing.
Pesasa ( 2016-11-22 21:24:54 +0300 )editSearx also gives a lot more relevant results than DuckDuckGo in at least Finnish. It might work in English, but in Finnish it's frustating.
