My Service provider operates in BAND3 BAND5 and BAND40 . Is there any way to select and set particular band manually? Thanks in advance.

No, there is not*. The decision of what band to use (out of those the phone is capable of using) is left to the base station (eNodeB) according to the specification.

*In theory you can disable bands by modifying a bitmask in the modem firmware. The phone will then report that it only supports the bands you want to use. I would not advice to try that, it might very well break something. Also, I'd assume that takes a reboot to apply and I'm guessing you wanted to change reasonably fast?

What is your use case anyway?

I'm not convinced it will help you much. (handovers should not kill transfers) Anyway, you can check if you are really switching band all the time. See my comment on this question for how to see which band you are on: https://together.jolla.com/question/137336/lte-with-jolla-c/
